Fixed Prosthodontics

WHAT IS FIXED PROSTHODONTICS?

Fixed Prosthodontics is the specialty branch of dentistry focused on restoring missing or damaged teeth with permanent, non-removable restorations. Unlike removable dentures, fixed restorations are cemented or anchored directly into the mouth  meaning patients cannot take them out. The result is a restoration that looks, feels, and functions just like a natural tooth.

Every Fixed Prosthodontics restoration at Shan Dental is custom-designed using digital impressions and CAD/CAM precision milling, ensuring each piece matches the color, shape, and bite of your natural teeth. Whether you need to protect a single damaged tooth or rebuild an entire arch, Dr. Megha Pathak creates a treatment plan that is clinically sound, esthetically refined, and built to last.

FIXED PROSTHODONTICS

Complete dentures are removable prosthetic devices that can replace all the existing teeth in a person’s upper and/or lower arch. These are made of strong materials like acrylic and transform into artificial teeth that most closely resemble human ones, adding to the overall natural look. For patients who still have some healthy, natural teeth, partial dentures may be a more suitable alternative, offering targeted support while preserving remaining tooth structure

● Dental Crown

A dental crown is one of the most common Fixed Prosthodontics restorations. It is a tooth-shaped cap that covers the entire visible surface of a tooth from the gumline up.

● Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthodontic solution that fills the gap left by one or more missing teeth. A prosthetic tooth, called a pontic, is fused between two dental crowns that are permanently cemented onto the neighboring teeth or implants on each side of the gap.

● Implant Crown

An implant crown is the gold standard for single-tooth Fixed Prosthodontics replacement. A titanium implant post is placed into the jawbone as an artificial root.

● Implant Bridge

An implant bridge is a fixed prosthodontic restoration that replaces two or more consecutive missing teeth using only two dental implants as anchors  no healthy adjacent teeth need to be altered.

● Implant-Supported Fixed Denture

An implant-supported fixed denture is the most comprehensive fixed prosthodontic restoration available.

WHY CHOOSE FIXED PROSTHODONTICS?

Fixed Prosthodontics restorations, including crowns, bridges, implant crowns, implant bridges, and implant-supported fixed dentures, offer advantages that no removable appliance can match:

  • Restored chewing force: Eat anything you want, including hard and crunchy foods, without discomfort or restriction.
  • Bone preservation: Implant-based Fixed Prosthodontics options stimulate the jawbone, stopping the bone loss that begins within weeks of losing a tooth.
  • Maintained facial shape: Missing teeth cause the face to sink inward over time. Fixed restorations support your lips and cheeks and prevent premature aging.
  • Stops tooth shifting: Neighboring teeth drift into open gaps. A fixed restoration closes the space and holds the correct alignment.
  • Natural appearance: CAD/CAM-milled zirconia and ceramic restorations are shade-matched and shaped to be visually identical to natural teeth.
  • Long-lasting results: With proper oral hygiene, Fixed Prosthodontics restorations at Shan Dental are designed to last 15 to 25 years or more.
  • No removal or adhesives: Fixed restorations are a permanent part of your mouth  nothing to take out, soak, or secure with paste.
  • Clearer speech: Gaps and loose dentures distort pronunciation. Fixed restorations restore correct tongue-to-tooth contact for natural, clear speech.
